Windsurfing: Felixstowe dip Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: 15/20kts Surf / Sea State: flat to swell Air Temperature: 14C Sea Temperature: cold Weather: sunnyish Max Speed: 25.2 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 1hr 20 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
5***** day at Felistowe dip. Arrived 4pm and Daz was leaving while Phil was
packing up having had a good day. Wind was 15 to 20kts sea was flattish on
the inside with big swells near the river channel marker and the sun came
out! It was nippy though.
Ali was out on the water, but packed up be4 I hit the water, so quickly
rig my all time favourite sail 7.2 Neil Pryde Hellcat with my first ride on
my 146L excite ride.
Hit the water for about a 1hr 20 in 3 stints and had a great session.
The wind was perfect and constant, and although wind with tide, staying up
was easy.
The 50cm fin was too big so had a some control probs (meant to fit 46cm)
The swell was perfect riding in and got my speed run (25.2kts) in early, so
from then had a great relax in / out cruising. Thoroughly recommend JP
Excite ride 146L pro, very smooth ride, similar to Tabou Rocket but more
controlled and smoother in the gybe. Could have switched to 120L version
but time was against that.
Dropped 4/5 gybes as switched back to old school to boom to boom and yep
finger got cold water starting, but with hat and steamer it was OK. As I
was on my own I went for the last run when the wind eased and switch to
slightly off. Only 2 kiters turned up late, so decided against the bad luck
last run!
Sauna / steam / Jacuzzi afterwards warmed the blood added the fifth star!
Top evening.
